Retirement
Located in the mild climate of rural Virginia, 100 acre horse farm with three large pastures dedicated to the retirees to accommodate the dynamics of the individual horses! Byrd puts hands on each horse three (or more) times daily! Owners are welcome to visit their retired friend any time. Byrd uses the best vets, farriers, and equine dentists. When it comes time for your friend to cross the Rainbow Bridge they will be gently guided by Byrd and the vet to provide a calm and peaceful experience. A memorial tree is planted for each of our retirees after they pass.
Byrd Rareshide
Owner of the Byrd's Nest Equine Retirement facility since 1998. Byrd has successfully shown and professionally groomed hunters and jumpers for top barns across the country. She lives on the premises and can see the horses at any given time. She has many wonderful references and is loved by the equine community for her many years of taking care of showing, judging, and caring for retirees. She stays active by attending shows, trail riding, cheering on friends, supporting up and coming riders, and is a VHSA listed Horse Show Judge.
Rates
All boarding includes deworming and having their hooves trimmed by our wonderful Farrier every 6 weeks. Owners can rest assured there are no hidden fees and Byrd works hard to keep rates the same throughout the life of your retiree.
